PLA 2012 – Recap

This past week I attended the Public Library Association 2012 Conference in Philadelphia. It was a very productive conference.  To the left, a picture of me holding a copy of Pathways to Progress: Issues and Advances in Latino Librarianship for which I contributed a piece. Wednesday, March 14

In Philadelphia attending the Public Library Association’s conference. Glad to see so many fab colleagues. Looking forward to sessions, networking and eating at the Reading Terminal Market. The weather is beautiful. Sunglasses on now!

PLA 1st day: Robert Kennedy opening speaker, Booklust lunch w Nancy Pearl, exhibits opening reception w free food & fab vendors, PEW prog re The Library in the City report, listened to the band Lost in the Stacks. A great start! #pla12

 All speakers have checked w their library lawyers to make sure content, rights & everything is ok with pinterest content policies#pla12

 When Facebook changes pages to new timeline, strategize to decide what story U want to tell about U library. #pla12

 Friday, March 16

PLA 2nd day: many great programs including Why libraries matter (ALA Presidential Initiative, Family literacy, various about social media & digital library. Connected with vendors. Freedom to Read Foundation Reception. Fab!

 Saturday, March 17

PLA 3rd day: spoke at two programs, Successful Partnerships to Serve Immigrant communities Today – and – Trends and Tips to Help English and Hispanic elders online. Fab audience. Great seeing so many of you there! Attended PLA All Conference Reception. Very nice event! Returned to NYC. PLA 2012 was wonderful!
